Preschool
Babies to Grade RR · Mokopane
The first years matter more than any that follow. Our DeKlerk Street preschool gives your child a warm, structured place to grow in, with teachers who know every child by name and routines that make the day feel safe and predictable.
We follow ELDAS alongside Montessori principles, which means learning happens through play, handling real materials, and plenty of time outdoors rather than sitting still at a desk.
Learning That Looks Like Playing
Young children learn with their whole bodies. Everything below happens through activity, song and story rather than worksheets.
Early Literacy
Daily story time, rhymes and picture talk build vocabulary and listening. Children learn to hold a book, follow a story and recognise their own name long before formal reading starts.
Early Numeracy
Counting games, sorting, stacking and pattern work. Maths at this age is about noticing more and less, big and small, and what comes next.
Music & Movement
Singing, clapping, dancing and simple percussion. Rhythm work builds the same brain pathways that later support reading and counting.
Creative Arts
Painting, clay, cutting and pasting. Messy work with real materials builds the hand strength and control that writing will need.
Outdoor Play
Climbing, running, balancing and digging, every day. Gross motor development is not a break from learning, it is part of it.
Christian Values
Simple prayer, Bible stories and daily practice in sharing, saying sorry and caring for one another.
Predictable Days, Settled Children
Small children settle when they know what comes next. Our day follows the same shape every morning, which is what lets a two-year-old walk in confidently by the second week.
A gentle start. Children greet their teacher and choose an activity.
Songs, prayer, the weather, and the theme of the week.
Small-group work: art, puzzles, counting or language games.
Climbing frames, sand, balls and water on warm days.
A cooked meal, then quiet time for the younger children.
Stories, free play and a snack until collection.
What We Take Care Of
The practical things that make a working week possible, handled so you do not have to think about them.
- Meals provided — a cooked lunch and a snack each day, no lunchboxes to pack.
- Aftercare — supervised care past the school day at no separate arrangement.
- Small groups — enough adults that every child is known, not managed.
- Year-round intake — we enrol throughout the year, subject to space.
- A clear path onward — children move into our Grade R centre and then our primary school.
